Last week, we enjoyed sharing Halloween books and poetry, writing about Halloween, and creating Jack-o-Lantern glyphs. We started to name addition problems and solve for "all the ways to make" a number. We will continue with addition and subtraction this week in Math. For reading, we will continue with our CHUNKY MONKEY strategy. The kids should be able to cover up part of a tricky word and to solve it in chunks slowly using their letter sounds. Our sight words will remain the same (CAN and AND), since we did not focus quite enough on them last week! For Writing, we will begin to brainstorm for our Trimester 1 Personal Narratives. We will think through memorable experiences, share aloud, and write, write, write!
Beginning Tuesday, we will meet every day in Mrs. Hamby's class to practice for our Thanksgiving performance (November 22nd 11am and 2:30pm). This is a fun, memorable way for us to teach the story of America and to meet our social studies standards! I wish everyone the best of luck as you prepare for a fun Halloween week ahead!
