Our math book “The Grouchy Ladybug,” had the kids telling time, while thinking about ladybugs: the heroes for eating aphids! Eric Carle inspired us to read more of his animal books, and to share in his book-making process. He has great videos and resources on his website: http://www.eric-carle.com/home.html
Next week, we will begin our study of mammals! We will start with Ohio mammals as we gear up for our exciting field trip on Thursday! At Highbanks, we will study Ohio Wildlife and will spend the majority of the time outdoors. On Monday, I will send home volunteer information. For those of you who showed interest in volunteering on permission slips, but did not have the chance to sign up on the google doc, we welcome you to join us by meeting the group at Highbanks. I will also send home more information with your child on Monday!
Field trip prep: I will have each child make/wear some kind of a nametag as they come into school on Thursday. Please do not send in backpacks on Thursday, as we won’t send home anything—and having two classes at once might get confusing with double the “stuff!” Kids should wear light pants and good, solid walking/hiking shoes or boots. We will be outdoors and on trails/near ponds! Don’t forget sunscreen and hats or sunglasses. I am so excited for our fun adventure!
Friday of this week will be the Eli Pinney Memorial Celebration and Sports Tournament from 2:30-3:30. Two of our PM Students will be competing in a Sports Competition with many other students in the school against staff members. It should be a great time!
