We had the chance to learn some new domino games and to practice with bug buddies. Our kids are becoming more fluent with their math facts and gaining confidence with subtraction! We also learned “I Have, Who Has…” with both 2-digit numbers (for practice using the 100 chart), and with letter sounds. This activity requires patience, attentiveness, and listening skills—a teacher’s dream game! We also took some time to organize our binders and to finish projects from writing folders.
This coming week, the kids will switch home reading books for the very last time. After they are returned on May 15th, I will send the folders home with a mini summer activity pack. This will allow some time for any lost books to turn up before the end of the school year. On Monday, our school will be hosting “Whales Tales.” This is a service provided by the Dublin City pools, with the goal of educating kids on pool safety. They do talk everything through with the kids, but sometimes I find that the videos are realistic and can scare Kindergartners. I will have a conversation with the kids in the classroom after, but it might be worth discussing at home as well!
On Wednesday, we will have a therapy dog coming into the classroom! The kids will be able to sign up to read aloud to the dog, as a reward for making great choices in class and learning about mammals! The 10TH and 11th are Moms with Muffins, and we look forward to seeing you all as you head to the library for book fair finds! We will spend the week honoring special moms and beginning to learn about/grow plants in the classroom! Have a great weekend!
