This week, we will explore what we know already about maps as we look at pictures of Pinney and take a look at our classroom. I will share with the kids a tool on scholastic that I use to design a layout of our classroom, and then we will decide together how to best rearrange our classroom. We will also compare a large timeline to the class number line and illustrate 5 big changes over time, and what we think/wonder will change in the future. On Thursday and Friday, we will review and practice subtraction to build fluency.
In reading, we will continue with our fairy tale studies, and will have a chance to have some of our kids act out roles if they would like. We will think about the lessons to be learned within these tales and practice writing some of our own stories using "Once upon a time..." as a lead-in. In small reading groups, kids will work with me to read and retell using leveled mini-book fairy tales. Our sight words for the week will be WHAT and COME.
