Our class worked so hard this week to grow as a community and to put into practice our new Class Promise. We will work this year to: Be Brave, Be Kind, and Be Safe. Their mini-books will be coming home in backpacks today! Also, we will not send home envelopes on Fridays, but instead will be sending home the I Can Read Binders with Friday Notes Home. There will not be books in the binders today, as this is our new routine. Instead, please open up the yellow folder to find out what your child enjoyed about this week at school and sign the first page. In the pocket of the yellow folder, there is a request for you to fill out a form regarding things your child knows all about, and to send in a family photo. This will be kept in the binder to help us brainstorm ideas for writing throughout the year. You may write this portion for your child. Lastly, if you're feeling fancy this weekend, your child may decorate the front cover page on the insert of their binder! If not, they may do this portion in school.
Since Monday is Patriot Day, we will take time to learn our pledge of allegiance and to place it in our binders. We will begin writing an "All About Me" book, which will be used to create another class booklet. Our kids will use number lines for stories and will learn two new math games, "Racing Bears" and "Roll & Build." We will create anchor charts for Read to Self and Read with Buddy times, and really start to picture what it means to put our Class Promise into action. Lastly, our kiddos will begin to think about a special experience that they want to tell the class a story about. They will create props and these will be used for their upcoming narratives.
We are looking forward to another great week in Kindergarten! Thank you!
