We are truly hoping that our recent April showers will turn into sunshine and warmth so that our wildflowers will be in bloom next week! We've had a great week learning and celebrating our planet Earth! The kids learned all about recycling and ways to be more eco-friendly. They worked in small groups to complete creativity challenges. Learning to communicate and collaborate is so much fun at the end of the year, as the children have grown so much in their ability to show empathy and to truly listen to one another.
Next week, we will not meet in small reading groups, as I will be giving the Developmental Reading Assessment to kids one-on-one and assessing rhyme, beginning sounds, and all of our writing conventions as we near the year's end. We will have the focus words YOUR and WANT. We will read and compare different fairy tales. The kids will practice retelling with handmade props. On Friday, the school will have a celebration in the PM to honor our namesake with the Eli Pinney Memorial Celebration and awards ceremony!
With warmer weather, hopefully we will be able to spend more time outdoors, tending to our garden, buddy reading, and visiting our Pinney Marsh! If you would like to send a waterbottle with your child, please label it! I always try to encourage the kids to drink tons of water during outdoor recess!
May 9th---MOTHER'S DAY COFFEE SHOP EVENT 10:15 AM and 2:30 PM
In our Kindergarten classrooms, we will host a casual and sweet coffee date to celebrate Mother's Day. We will serve coffee, share a song or two, and read a special book about moms. Because of limited space, we would like for the kids to try to limit the number of attendees--If mom cannot attend, kids may invite 1 different special guest. Please email me for special circumstances. =)
May 22nd--Supergames
May 23rd--Last day for K
